Personal banking has evolved over the years to become a very competitive and vibrant financial marketplace. Historically, personal banking constituted putting your income or salary into an account with the bank – usually the one that was closest to you – and that is, if they accepted your custom. Personal banking was mostly the preserve of the educated and perhaps the rich.
In fact banks turned down people they felt did not fit into their “club”. Gone are those days, now banks are actively courting the custom of everyone. In fact, some go as far as poaching customers from their competitiors. This is all good for the average consumer. Some of the benefits of modern personal banking include:
Most banks offer free banking services such as opening accounts, setting up direct debits, bill payments and more. Some banks still charge for keeping an account with them. For instance, with HSBC personal banking , opening an account is free. You will also receive a checkbook, pay-in slips and monthly statements all without any cost to you. This the same, with if you opt for Barclays personal banking or Bank of America personal banking instead.
Most banks are now offering different types of products to suit their cusotmers needs. FromFrom savings accounts to checking accounts, fast personal loans as well as a credit cards, the consumer is simply spoilt fo choice. All you need to do is a bit of research as to which on is the cheapest and most suitable to your needs. For banks, if these services are not provided, consumers will simply vote with their feet and choose the next bank offering better services.
You do not need to borrow money from the bank where your checking account is. You can use any credit provider that suits your needs. You are not tied to any particular lender or banking institution. For example you, can have your mortgage and savings account in different banks
The main principle with personal banking online is to shop around. Never take “No” for an answer. If your bank does not provide satisfactory services – whether insuarance, credit cards, loans, mortgages – you have every right to find a better one. This could save you huge amounts of money.

I do agree that personal banking is beneficial. I have more time to do other work instead of queuing in the bank just to pay bills. But the banks & we ourselves need to take more precautions when online as there are too many hackers nowadays trying to track & do harm to our accounts.
